Abilene, Kan. - The public is invited to attend the February Lunch & Learn scheduled for Thursday, February 23 at noon central time either in person or online. The program will be held in the library building courtyard and will begin promptly at noon. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 11:45 a.m. A light box-lunch will be served on a first come, first served basis.
Guest speaker Jeremy Black, Professor of History at Exeter University, will join us remotely. Black puts Eisenhower’s achievements into context of the shorter term of WWII aftermath and early stages of the Cold War paired with the longer term development of American foreign policy.
Black is a prolific lecturer and writer, the author of over 100 books. Many concern aspects of eighteenth century British, European and American political, diplomatic and military history. He has also broadened his perspective, both temporally and geographically, and published on the history of the press, cartography, warfare, culture and on the nature and uses of history itself.
These programs are all made possible courtesy of the Eisenhower Foundation with generous support from the Jeffcoat Memorial Foundation.
